A term that has come to represent the most die-hard adidas aficionados, the ‘Spezial’  capsule collection evolved from the exhibition of the same name held in London in 2013, an event curated by life-long 3 stripe devotee Gary Aspden.

A celebration of all things adidas, the exhibition showcased a vast collection of archive silhouettes, with many borrowed from the personal collections of some of the brand’s most passionate fans.

As a result of the exhibit’s roaring success, Aspden has gone on to work with the German sportswear legends for this new capsule, born from the devotion of those his own lifelong obsession with the brand with the three stripes.

Growing up in North West England, a place which he describes as ‘adidas heartland’, luxury sportswear and adidas trainers were a genuine staple, where functional sportswear was adapted by young people to suit their own purposes, whether they were as a status symbols or for clambering over a fence.

Galvanised by the early hip hop all-dayers and Hacienda acid house all-nighters, adidas footwear become intrinsically linked to their identity and culture, communicating shared ideas and attitudes across terraces and dancefloors alike.

Creating a collection of contemporary clothing that celebrates the brands rich history and cultural influence, Aspden has both curated and designed a range that focuses on the brand’s oft overlooked leisurewear lineage and celebrates the devotion their footwear has inspired.

The adidas Originals x SPEZIAL collection takes on a variety of archive silhouettes, blending original specs with sought after special editions and details lifted from the personal collections of the most die hard adi fanatics., topped off with a new selection of apparel, re-designed and re-invented in luxurious fabrics and modern cuts.

Look for the adidas Originals x SPEZIAL collection to release online at EndClothing.co.uk and Sneakersnstuff.com on October 25th.
