Allen Iverson was the personification of hip hop culture when he entered the NBA in 1996. Iverson had a legendary basketball career, and will undoubtedly be a first ballot Hall of Famer. Despite being an 11-time NBA All-Star, Iverson may be best remembered for his tattoos and off-court personality. AI was first covered in a sports documentary back in 2010 for the ESPN 30 for 30 series in No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson. Allen Iverson’s troublesome high school years were charted in the film by Steve James (director of Hoop Dreams). No Crossover was well received by critics, but the film suffered as Iverson refused to appear in the documentary. The new AI documentary, simply titled ‘Iverson’ captures AI telling his story through his own words. Iverson fans should be excited to get a glimpse at the iconic basketball star’s life. Iverson is set to debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 27th.
