Renowned for their bold, contemporary stance on traditional menswear, Tokyo-based SOPHNET. present their collection for Spring/Summer 2015 which wholeheartedly reinforces this statement.
Reappropriating wardrobe staples and timeless classics, SOPH focus upon a strong military influence for the season. Taking classic rugged outerwear such as the M-51Field Jacket and Coach Jacket, the Japanese-label inject a sense of personality into each piece by utilising British Army Camouflage pattern to the liner and sleeve inserts respectively.
The very same pattern is the main focus of a collaborative effort with English manufacturer Fox Umbrellas with the distinctive print adorning two iterations of the Soutien Collar Rain Coat as well as two distinctly lightweight Rain Hats, all of which make use of the Surrey-brand’s functional Nylon fabric.
Coats and jackets aside, the collection, dubbed ‘Alphabet’, is supported by a range of Boro patchwork inspired shirting that demonstrates SOPHNET.’s desire to rework the norm into the contemporary but still maintain a sense of everyday wear. This is also apparent with the brand’s selection of jersey which has now became a signature with contrast sleeve panels and tall kangaroo pockets.
